I Love a Circus
While treasure hunting this past spring I came across an old book about the circus in american at the turn of the century. Something about images of the circus back then sets my heart aflutter. I think it's the romance and mystery that surrounds it in my mind. I always imagine the grand adventure it must have been. It was this vintage circus theme that I used last year for my daughter's 3rd birthday and after I found this old book with awesome vintage circus posters in it I knew I had to create some momento to document the party. This is what was sprang forth...

Memories Not Perfect Pictures
I can be critical of pictures I take. I always feel that they aren't that great, the lighting is off, the composition could be better, sometimes they are a little out of focus! I find it especially hard to take good pictures of my daughters who never seem to sit still long enough for me to take a picture and even if they are still I can never get them to look at the camera. I thought that at first about the pictures below, that they weren't worth scrapbooking but after a second look I realized that although you can't see her face in the pictures I can see the squeal of laughter she let out as the sheep was checking her out, I can see the big smile I know was there, I can see the fun we had that day. That's the thing about pictures sometimes, they don't have to be perfect they just have to capture a memory to make them great.

Twice the Fun
We had such a great time today with the cousins! We always have twice the fun when we get to play with them. I only wish we lived closer so we could play more often. Thank you for coming to visit with us and we hope you guys had just as much fun as we did. Looking forward to the next time...

In a Flash
I was looking at my youngest "baby" the other day and realized she's not such baby anymore. While she is only 2 years old, she is very much her own independent person who wants to do things on her OWN and assert her OWN personality. Seems like yesterday she was a little tiny peanut. I'm sure I'll turn around tomorrow and she'll be all grown up, but I'll still remember when she was just my little one.

Happy Sunday
I was inspired by the plants growing in my vegetable garden today. It looks like they are going to make it, fingers crossed! While some people have a green thumb and seem to be a wiz with gardening like my father it seems I have not inherited this gene. I guess if I can't always grow the best looking plants at least I can incorporate their beauty into my art...

Progress not Perfection
I've started reading a book recently about parenting "spirited" children. It talks about analyzing the negative labels we place on people then reinterpreting them in a positive light. Sometimes I think my oldest daughter can be a little stubborn and strong-willed but when I look at these labels again I see that she's really just goal oriented and persistent which aren't necessarily bad things. So here's to a little girl who knows what she wants and isn't afraid to go for it...which are labels I hope she never grows out of.

Here We Go...
I've always been intrigued by the idea of using a blog as a way to share my creative endeavours. I love looking at other people's art, I think it helps to spark my own creativity. So with all this in mind here we go...
What I've been working on lately...enjoy!
